My Creative Space

This week I am making a baby quilt.

Its for a boy, and I've used the last of my Paddington Bear fabric, which is pretty cool. I appliqued a little gingham elephant onto it.

Its pinned to the wadding & the backing , ready to be quilted. I will be adding binding to it made from this great tutorial from Burdastyle, and using the rest of the blue stripey fabric. Its the best tutorial ever on making continuous bias tape.

Will post finished pictures next week. And check out lots more creativity here.

Vintage 60's Blouse

I finally got the time to use some of this fabric, to make myself a new tunic type blouse. I used a vintage pattern, which looks like its from the sixties. I made view A with short sleeves.

I seem to have a thing for tunics, I think they look great with jeans or leggings. I'm not really a skirt kind of girl.

The fabric was amazing to work with. Think it might be a cotton voile, not linen as I first thought.

I am very happy with the result .Its really comfortable to wear, and the pattern was super easy too. I am thinking  next time I might lengthen it and add pockets to make a dress.  Will be on the look out for some more tasty vintage fabrics.

Flea Market Finds

This week I found some really cute patterns.

I'm liking the pintucks on the front, as I have never tried them before.

These 4 girls patterns just happened to be all in my daughters size. I like them all.

These ones remind me of dresses I used to wear to school, way back when.

This pattern is my favorite I think it will look so cute for a beach dress.

After all that pattern finding I found some nice vintage buttons.

I also found some make your own buttons. They look pretty, and quite easy to make also. And, as it says on the packet, they cannot rust. Check out lots more finds over here. Happy hunting.

Looking for Spring

I was inspired by this lovely blog to go out and look for signs of Spring. The days are getting longer, it's not so cold anymore.

Tiny little buds are beginning to appear among the hedges, you can see them if you look closely.

The little wood is starting to look somewhat more greener.

Some cute little shoots growing from an old wall.

And every day is like Spring if you're a dog. Love is in the air I think.

Hope its getting more Spring- like where ever you are too.

Flea Market Finds

Todays finds involve loads of lovely fabric and a nice pattern.
There is about 5 meters of this for 4 euro.

Its has a nice drape, its kind of floaty, and a bit lineny, if you know what I mean.

The I found a cute little shirt dress pattern for 1 euro.

I like the drape on the sleeves, and it has button loops on the front, instead of button holes.

Watch this space for finished dress pictures. Find more fab finds here.

Mug Rugs

I have seen a few of these on the web lately, and thought I'd give them a try.
I made 4 of them so far in various colours.

I machine stitched the steam from the teapot.

These are just the right size for your mug of tea or coffee, and a little treat.

I like em, and they will be gifted to my friends soon.
