Apron Swap.

At last I have finished my apron for the Apron Swap. My swap partner is Stacy from Sew Happy Stacy. I will be posting it out to you tomorrow.

I used a free vintage pattern that I found at SewMamaSew. It is faced with bias tape that I made myself. Can't say I am a fan of bias tape in general. In any case the bias facing doesn't show because I prefer it that way. The apron has 4 nice big pockets in the front, and its a smock style, which is very comfortable to wear.

I really hope she likes. Its not perfect, but I hope she can still enjoy it and wear it. Thanks for the apron swap idea. It was lots of fun.

Now I just cant wait to receive mine in the post!!!

Happy Birthday

26 Years ago tomorrow I was giving birth to my beautiful son Kevin. He is now somewhere in Australia on a years trip. Would just like to wish him a wonderful day, and it doesn't seem like that long ago that you were just a tiny baby. These snaps were taken in Japan.

Hi to Sinead too and loving the pictures.

And remember Mummy loves you!!!

Lilac Tree

My lilac tree has bloomed this year for the first time. I already planted it like 4 years ago, so I don't know if this is normal or not.

We are also having some long awaited Summer weather, and I decided to sit in the garden and finish my Kasia skirt, and get some rays.

I love this pattern. I originally made it with the front flap , but found that it added too much bulk in the tummy area. So I ripped it up, took off the front piece and reattached the front without the flap. I also took off the waistband, and turned it around, putting the zip in the back.

I much prefer it without the extra front fabric. its a little too big for me, I plan to make it in a smaller size next with denim fabric maybe. Hopefully second time around there will be no mistakes. Practice makes perfect, as they say.

Mazy was there too eating my old flower pots, what would i do without her!!!

Market

The market was great, loads of people turned out for it, and I sold some of my wares. Met lots of nice new people and a good day was had by all. Only problem is now I have to start sewing all over again for my next market which will probably be the Leixlip Salmon Festival. Held on the June Bank holiday. Its a great day the main street is closed to traffic and lots of people come from the surrounding areas to enjoy themselves. So its busy busy busy for me. I took some pics of the last Crafty Market, but they are very bad quality, too low lighting. I put them up anyway for you to enjoy....

Sewing like a MadWoman

All alone now since my visitors left. Great fun was had by all, even though it rained a lot, and was extremely cold. Never mind the scenery is fantastic here. we went walking in Glencree.

I've been getting ready for my Crafty Market, which takes place on Sunday. This time I've decided to make some more little vintage kiddies clothes. I bought these too cute patterns and have started sewing up some of them. They are all size 1 thought, so I'm thinking I will have to size them up (don't actually know how to do that).

Even if they are small little items, they still take lots of time to make. I love how the vintage childrens clothes are so sweet when made up.

Hope it goes well, there should be a great crowd, new location in the centre of Dublin. See you there maybe and wish me luck with the selling.

My Finnish Family

Well, I've been busy today baking tarts and soda bread. Its for the imminent arrival of my in-laws from Helsinki. This is assuming that we are not consumed in volcanic ash again, blast them Icelanders!!! I thought it would be nice to bake something traditional.

The first one is an apple tart, which is just apples and pastry, and then a simple soda bread. The soda bread has raisins in it too. They turned out well, and they didn't burn this time.

I also made a little reject tart, which, according to the recipe book is an apple soda cake. It tastes better than it looks believe me.

My hat arrived.

Well my hat arrived this morning. As you know, if you've been reading my blog, I won this hat from the wonderful verypurpleperson.

As I had anticipated, it was made very well. I love the cute lining, but I especially love the removable brooch. I think it would look lovely on a bag or even on a cardi. Sorry I didn't take any pictures of myself wearing it. Its very hard to take a picture of yourself in a hat. Anyway I took some pictures this morning to show it off.
